Rotterdam Elated Life
In the BNA design research program "Licht Verdicht" possibilities are studied for the densification of the Weena First location in Rotterdam (corner of Weena and Kruisplein). With the plan "Elated Life" more buildings, more plants and art are added above the existing buildings, with new (vertical) connections of the public space, cultural routes and green spaces within the city. The 5th facades are used for extra public space with roof gardens to diminish heat stress, designed as a mountain with specific plant habitats and drainage/water systems according to each specific height. The new 6th facade (public ceilings) make new expressions possible. The interdisciplinary designteam is a cooperation between HOSPER, NOAHH, Temp architecture, Zonneveld ingenieurs and Studio Drift.
Project done at HOSPER, Rotterdam Verheven Leven 2016 with Hanneke Kijne as Projectleader, designed together with Raquel van Donselaar
